Our target audience are foundations and institutions
The impact measurement methodology of Swissocial is primarily intended for the stakeholders of the non-profit sector, who prioritize the need for measuring the social impact of their social projects and not only their results.
Stakeholders of the non-profit sector are, among others:
- Foundations or NGOs carrying out their own projects
- Foundations or NGOs financing projects carried out by other institutions
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) departments of companies
- Government Development Agencies
- Philanthropic individuals and Family offices investing in philanthropic projects
Because of the comparatively low costs of implementing and applying the Swissocial methodology, medium size foundations and NGOs can also use it, without having to devote a significant part of the project budget to measure the social impact.

For more than 7 years, we have managed the project "A violin can change the world" with the same rigor we brought to our business careers. As soon as we started with the project, we asked Swissocial to implement a solid scientific study to know more about the impact of playing the violin on cognitive and non-cognitive development in young children. As an independent team, Swissocial did a great job in scientifically evaluating the program’s results in 2 schools in Switzerland, studying 2 cohorts (Test and Control) over their four years in the project. Swissocial designed a whole set of tests and questionnaires and organized the data collection and the analysis over the 4 years, in a very clever way. The intermediate and the final reports were extremely useful, not only for the results, but also for the advices and basis for thinking further and deeper about the project itself. All over those years, we have been very pleased with the efficient and professional work of the Swissocial team and their customized answers to our needs.

The social impact assessment methodologies developed by Swissocial, besides keeping the statistical rigor as a scientific method, have been developed from the realities of local the social and economic environments. That makes them flexible and disruptive, easy to apply, allowing to know in an objective and measurable way, the impact that an intervention has on a community. In our case, we have been able to apply the SEWI methodology in different projects, with optimal and verifiable results.

The impact evaluation helped us scale the Carvajal Foundation’s Saberes program, as in seven years we went from 500 to 500,000 early childhood children. The results of the impact evaluation were also very important to improve the program, as well as to influence public policy in the country. The evaluation helped us strengthen Fundación Carvajal’s capacity to manage philanthropy, as we now base our programs on evidence, which leads to continuous improvement.
